EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT SENT A STRONG POLITICAL MESSAGE FOR A SUSTAINABLE CIRCULAR ECONOMY!
Members of the European Parliament voted yesterday, in plenary, the Circular Economy Package.
Indeed, concerning how to deal with chemicals of concern in recycled materials and hazadous waste treatments, decontamination and non-dilution principles have been introduced in the waste framework Directive. In combination with enforcement on traceability that has also been adopted, we can really ensure that closing the loop will rhyme with protection of public health and environment.
Other very important decisions have been taken into account : restrictions concerning backfilling, no derogation to permit for recovery operation of hazardous waste and separate collection of hazardous waste from households.
Now all this points will be discussed during the trialogue and we hope that a majority of member states will see the need and the effectiveness of these proposals for closing the loop safely and for innovative green growth!
